Step 1: Open your User.ini file located in your System folder of your main UT2004 folder.
Step 2: Find the section called [XGame.xPawn].
Step 3: Change the relevant lines in this section so they match the following settings:
- Code: Select all
[XGame.xPawn]
PlacedCharacterName=Gorge
PlacedFemaleCharacterName=Rylisa
bPlayOwnFootsteps=False
bUnlit=True
where:
- "PlacedCharacterName" and "PlacedFemaleCharacterName" is male and female models you want to force (see the bottom of this post for the complete list you can choose from)
- "bPlayOwnFootsteps=False" will turn off the sounds of your own footsteps while running. This is a matter of preference - change as you see fit
- "bUnlit=True" adds more light on other players
Step 4: Save your changes and exit
Step 5: Open your UT2004.ini file located in the same folder as your User.ini
Step 6: Find the section called [UnrealGame.DeathMatch]. (if you cant find it, then add it)
Step 7: Change the relevant lines in this section so they match the following settings:
- Code: Select all
[UnrealGame.DeathMatch]
bColoredDMSkins=True
bForceDefaultCharacter=True
where:
- "bColoredDMSkins=True" forces all models to a red or blue skin, but only works in deathmatch games in instant action - it does not actually work online
- "bForceDefaultCharacter=True" turns on the force models feature
Step 8: Save your changes and exit
Step 9: Start UT2004 and go to the ingame Settings menu. You must now select the same male or female model (Gorge or Rylisa) that your forced or else it wont work
